Board of Directors

Aaron Kiewicz - Board Member

Aaron Kiewicz, a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran, is a leader in Veteran transition. As an Executive Board Member for Veterans Beer Club (VBC), he has significantly influenced its national presence. In early 2020, he founded the Colorado Springs chapter, maintaining it through virtual efforts and growing it into a flagship event. His success led to his role as one of VBC’s first Regional Coordinators, mentoring new leaders and expanding the club’s mission. Now on the Executive Board, Aaron focuses on veteran engagement and community connection through mentorship and strategic initiatives. He is married to Krista, an Army National Guard Veteran, and has three children, including Wyatt, a fourth-generation military Veteran.

Phil Kendro - Treasurer

Phil Kendro, a Washington D.C. native, served 20 years in the Marine Corps. Post-service, he worked in business development, as Assistant Director of the Marine Corps Entertainment Office, and is now a United Airlines Captain. He also consults on aviation, event planning, and veteran transitions.

Phil is President and CEO of the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial Association, Co-Founder of the Veterans Beer Club, and serves on various San Diego military and veterans committees. He is a proud father of Brandon and Alexandra.

Kevin Cortes - Secretary

Kevin Cortes, a 20-year Marine Corps veteran and co-founder of the Veterans Beer Club, remains actively engaged in the San Diego veteran community. Alongside his wife, Jennifer, he leads the military wing of their megachurch. Cortes is a dedicated advocate for employers, actively mentoring other service members in navigating the complexities of VA claims. Additionally, he is an avid golfer and serves as the captain of the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Chapter for San Diego County.

The Veterans Beer Club is the only real networking group in San Diego. I got hired at my current company from the contacts I made at VBC. The military transition programs should really contact these guys to help those still in uniform
